Project Description: Our project solves the problem of bycatching unfairly many marine creatures during shrimp trawl fisheries, which uses ships for dragging huge and heavy nets inside the ocean, the nets pull a random grab bag of ocean creatures to the surface (catching 1kg shrimp + 6 kg bycatch in average), and most of them can’t survive then.
our solution is to make the network see and select the shrimp, based on a camera that transmits the scene to the Pictoblox program including machine learning about shrimp shape and then controlling the smart net (pumps and valves) through the Arduino.
